Sapio Sciences Successfully Completes SOC 2 Type II Certification

The Examination Evaluated the Cybersecurity Compliance of Sapio’s ELN and LIMS Applications Across Three Trust Service Principles

BALTIMORE, MD, September, 7, 2023 — Sapio Sciences, the science-aware™ lab informatics platform, today announced the successful completion of a Type II System and Organization Controls (SOC 2) examination. The examination was performed by Schellman & Company, LLC, for the period from November 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023.

Established by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the SOC framework is the industry-leading standard for evaluating vendor security and mechanisms for protecting customer data from unauthorized access, security incidents, and other vulnerabilities. Sapio’s successful completion of the SOC 2 Type II evaluation follows its earlier Type 1 evaluation, which was renewed in December 2022.

SOC 2 provides auditors with guidance for evaluating the operating effectiveness of an organization’s security protocols. Designed to establish trust between service providers and their customers, SOC 2 covers five trust services criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. Type I reports evaluate an organization’s controls as a single point in time, assessing the design of security controls. Type II reports assess how controls function over time. For its SOC 2 Type II evaluation, Sapio elected to evaluate the security, availability, and confidentiality of its LIMS and ELN applications.
