Sapio Sciences Receives Acclaimed Cyber Security Accreditation 

ISO 27001 Accreditation Ensures Sapio’s ELN and LIMS Applications Meet High Standards for Risk Management, Cyber-Resilience, and Operational Excellence

BALTIMORE, MD, September 8, 2023 — Sapio Sciences, the science-aware™ lab informatics platform, today announced its Electronic Lab Notebook and LIMS software applications have achieved ISO/IEC 27001:2013 accreditation. The certification, issued on August 24, 2023, was completed by Schellman & Company, LLC., a leading audit and compliance firm. Download the certificate here.

ISO/IEC 27001 is the world’s best-known standard for information security management systems. The standard provides organizations with guidance for establishing, maintaining, and continually improving their systems. By conforming with ISO/IEC 27001, organizations demonstrate that they have adopted and maintained processes to manage risks related to the security of data that they own or handle and that these processes respect all the best practices and principles enshrined in this international standard. ISO/IEC 27001 explicitly evaluates three principles of information security: confidentiality, information integrity, and data availability.

The ISO/IEC 27001 certification follows Sapio’s recent announcement that it successfully completed a Type II System and Organization Controls (SOC 2) examination for the period from November 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023. The SOC framework is the industry-leading standard for evaluating vendor security and mechanisms for protecting customer data from unauthorized access, security incidents, and other vulnerabilities.
