Meet Our Presenters

Ricardo Schiavo
Director Lab Information Systems, Regeneron Genetics Center
Ricardo Schiavo is the Director Lab Information Systems at Regeneron Genetics Center. Ricardo Schiavo brings 20 years of experience using informatics solutions to increase laboratory efficiency, improve data quality, and convert lab data into actionable insights. He joined the Regeneron Genetics Center in 2021 with the objective of modernizing the Sequencing Lab’s information systems and supporting its ultra-high-throughput NGS process.

Rajesh Kumar
Senior Director of Structural Biology, Schrodinger
Rajesh Kumar received his Ph.D in Physics/Biophysics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He then joined as a postdoctoral fellow at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, NY, USA, specializing in protein chemistry and structural biology. He then joined the faculty of biochemistry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and focused on Structural genomics of proteins involved in the Immune function network. He then joined Biogen and contributed to small molecule drug discovery efforts in proteins involved in neurodegeneration. He joined Schrodinger in the fall of 2022 as a Sr. Director of Structural biology and has focused on building the lab infrastructure, including establishing a ELN system and contributing to small molecule drug discovery efforts on proteins involved in inflammation and oncology.

Prashant Vaidyanathan
Director, Oxford Biomedica
Prashant is responsible for creating an ecosystem to facilitate FAIR data across Oxford Biomedica by implementing next-generation digital platforms. His work and research lie at the interface of computer science, design automation, data standardisation, and biology. Prashant’s career has spanned various interdisciplinary academic and industrial environments, encompassing both research and software development roles.

Markus Fassbender
Global Inventory Lead, Roche
Markus Fassbender began his academic journey at Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich where he studied chemistry and informatics. He earned his Ph.D. in 1997, with a thesis focused on the molecular modeling of liver enzymes. His career at Roche began with a post-doctoral position in Basel, where he researched intra-cellular metabolism and metabolite analytics. Markus Fassbender then transitioned into a research informatics role, initially supporting medicinal chemistry at Roche Mannheim by developing lab journal and database applications. Over the next two decades at Roche, he became an expert in managing and implementing complex informatics systems. He is now responsible for inventory systems for small and large molecules, lab chemicals and also cell lines. In the informatics landscape these systems are tightly integrated with robotic stores, barcoding and labelling solutions and registration systems.

Angela Kenyon
Director of BioInformatics, Labcorp
Angela Kenyon is the director of bioinformatics at LabCorp. As an IT lead at the company, she’s responsible for crunching large volumes of diverse data to aid in developing new genetic tests and also works on the LIMS systems to support that data generation. Angela holds a B.S. in biotechnology & applied math and a M.S in mathematics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Stefan Schmidt
CEO, Evitria
Stefan Schmidt is CEO of evitria AG in Zürich, leading strategic growth and operations to position the company as a premier provider of recombinant antibodies. He brings over 20 years of leadership across biotech, pharma, and CDMO sectors, including executive roles at BioAtrium (Lonza–Sanofi JV) and Rentschler Biopharma. With a background in protein biochemistry and biotechnology, his expertise spans protein engineering, process innovation, and therapeutic development.

Federico Lionetti
BioMedical Software Engineer, Navignostics AG
Federico Lionetti is a biomedical engineer and software developer for a start-up dedicated to advancing personalized cancer diagnostics. At Navignostics, a Swiss biotechnology company specializing in spatial single-cell proteomics, he leads the company’s software development, managing the software components of a next-generation medical device and its associated data analysis pipelines. He is also responsible for the development and validation of core systems such as the Laboratory Information Management System and the Clinical Portal. In addition, his work focuses on automation, image analysis, and cloud infrastructure. With a strong interdisciplinary background, Federico bridges biomedical engineering and software development to enable innovative solutions in digital health and precision oncology.

Roi Bagsic
Quality Control Analyst II, Ellison Medical Institute
Roi graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. He works at the Ellison Medical Institute as the primary administrator and manager of their Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN). His responsibilities include training new users, troubleshooting issues, maintaining system integrity, managing barcode-label printing, translating experimental procedures (such as NGS and drug discovery) into ELN templates, and recording standard operating procedures.

Mike Hampton
Chief Commercial Officer, Sapio Sciences
Mike Hampton is the CCO at Sapio Sciences, where he leads global commercial strategy and operations, including marketing, solution consulting, customer success and sales. He brings over two decades of international experience in life sciences, spanning commercial leadership, digital business transformation, and customer success. Mike’s focus is on accelerating growth by developing strong partnerships with pharma and biotech and strengthening Sapio’s position as the industry leader in AI-native lab informatics. With deep expertise in R&D digital transformation, customer relationship development, and value-based engagements, Mike is passionate about helping customers accelerate the entire drug development lifecycle.

Rob Brown
VP Product & Presales, Sapio Sciences
Rob Brown is VP of Product & Sales at Sapio Sciences. He was previously at Dotmatics where he was Head of Global Presales, Product Marketing & Product Management. Earlier in his career he ran product marketing teams at Accelrys, SciTegic and MSI. Rob started his career as a postdoc and later research scientist at Abbott Laboratories (now Abbvie). He received his PhD in Cheminformatics from the University of Sheffield, UK.

Jackie Huitink
Solution Consultant, Sapio Sciences
Jackie is an experienced Scientist with a demonstrated and diverse background of working in the biotechnology industry. After spending the first 20 years of her career in the laboratory doing research in strain engineering, alternative fuels, and analytics to name a few, Jackie has transitioned to Pre-Sales in the LIMS space where she uses her extensive research background and passion for science and the scientific community to provide new and efficient solutions in data and laboratory management.

Mike Tolino
Solution Consultant, Sapio Sciences
Mike Tolino is a seasoned professional in the fields of genomics and molecular diagnostics, serving as a Sales Solutions Engineer at Sapio Sciences LLC since October 2022. Prior experience includes roles as a Genomics Solution Design Specialist at Ovation.io and in various capacities at UPMC, where responsibilities spanned NGS supervision and lead specialist tasks in molecular and genomic pathology. At LabCorp, Mike contributed as a Specialty Technologist and performed advanced genomic assays. Earlier positions at UPMC involved significant contributions to laboratory efficiency and high-complexity testing while initial experiences at the University of Pittsburgh focused on research and laboratory management. Mike holds a BSc in Biology from Juniata College and has published work in multiple scientific journals.

Kelly Maddison
Solution Consultant, Sapio Sciences
Kelly Maddison is a Pre-Sales Engineer at Sapio Sciences with a background in forensic and pharmaceutical labs. Her early career as a Forensic DNA Analyst honed her skills in optimizing workflows and ensuring regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical industry. Kelly also has experience as a Digital Transformation Consultant where she helped companies improve efficiency and adhere to drug manufacturing guidelines. At Sapio Sciences, Kelly supports clients in adopting advanced lab informatics solutions, bridging technical needs and business goals. She holds a Master’s Degree in Forensic Science and Criminal Investigation, showcasing her dedication to innovation and continuous improvement in laboratory technology.

Christina Guitierrez
Solution Consultant, Sapio Sciences
Christina Gutierrez is a Sales Solution Engineer at Sapio Sciences. Prior to Sapio, she was at Benchling and built a strong scientific background after spending 15 years as an Application Scientist for IFF/DuPont/Genencor. She is passionate about bridging the gap between scientific research and business needs and strives to help clients find and optimize solutions for their scientific needs.
