Dr. Amrik Mahal, recently awarded the British Empire Medal, has 25+ years’ experience working in the pharmaceutical sector, primarily in Research & Development. Having worked for AstraZeneca, Glaxo Wellcome, and Evotec, he is currently the Global Head of IT for Research at AstraZeneca, accountable for developing and driving the IT strategy, partnering with the R&D senior leaders and delivery of projects and services to discovery and development scientists. Amrik is covering a wide range of scientific applications and end user disciplines. He has a proven ability to successfully provide leadership of teams across multiple domains, internally and externally with academia and industry. Amrik will share the AstraZeneca Digitization Journey and the current and potential future role of Sapio.

Ben Schreiner, As AWS Head of AI and Modern Data Strategy, Ben Schreiner is a trusted advisor helping customers unlock transformative growth. With 25+ years of global experience spanning enterprise technology, startups, and highly regulated industries such as financial services, Ben provides a unique perspective on driving innovation through emerging technologies like generative AI.

Joanne Hackett is currently responsible for creating a portfolio of external investments and strategic alliances that advance technology and product strategies and contribute to attaining research, development, and commercialization goals. She is a recognized thought leader in precision medicine with a track record of translating academic research into medical and commercial returns. Joanne has extensive experience as an entrepreneur, scientist, and strategist executing and managing complex medical and healthcare business transactions.

Kevin Malabre is a Senior Scientist in the Process Development Team (Upstream) at OXB (Oxford Biomedica), where he has played a pivotal role since joining the company in June 2018. With extensive expertise in upstream process development, Kevin has been a driving force in the SAPIO project and OXB’s digital transformation initiatives. From the early stages of design and trial to full team implementation, Kevin has been instrumental in shaping the digitalization journey at OXB, contributing to more streamlined workflows and enhanced data management processes. His commitment to innovation and collaboration has helped the team adopt cutting-edge solutions, strengthening OXB’s position at the forefront of bioprocessing advancements.

Over the years Shane Kamil has built a strong foundation in molecular biology and psychology. Shane excels in digital transformation within the life sciences, focusing on solutions that enhance both user experience and operational efficiency. Shane has been instrumental in supporting Sapio to truly understand the Olink processes resulting in the recently established Sapio-Olink partnership. Shane is driven by a passion for fostering collaboration across teams and departments and has dedicated his career to implementing digital initiatives that streamline processes and improve business outcomes. Currently, as the IT Business Solution Lead at Olink, he leads IT projects, including a complex, multi-site, multi-regional enterprise LIMS implementation. Previously, in the role of LIMS System Engineer, he led a comprehensive pre-study to gather user requirements, optimize processes, evaluate LIMS vendors, and establish governance frameworks for agile project management.

In 2022, Rajesh Kumar, Ph.D, joined Schrödinger as the Senior Director of Drug Discovery. Rajesh Kumar received his Ph.D in Physics/Biophysics from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He then joined as a postdoctoral fellow at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, NY, USA, specializing in protein chemistry and structural biology. He then joined the faculty of biochemistry at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and focused on Structural genomics of proteins involved in the Immune function network. He then joined Biogen and contributed to small molecule drug discovery efforts in proteins involved in neurodegeneration. He joined Schrodinger in the fall of 2022 as a Sr. Director of Structural biology and has focused on building the lab infrastructure, including establishing a ELN system and contributing to small molecule drug discovery efforts on proteins involved in inflammation and oncology.

Rumana Begum Raffi has nearly 10 years of experience helping biotech, pharma, and research-based organizations with their digital transformation efforts. She has led multiple projects in areas such as ELN implementation, data FAIRification, and digital strategy. Currently, Rumana works as a Scientific Data Architect at Zifo Technologies, Inc., where she focuses on global digital strategy, data architecture, data management, and data governance for top pharmaceutical companies. Rumana is particularly passionate about the role data plays in driving innovation in the life sciences sector. She finds it rewarding to see clients progress on their digital transformation journeys, knowing that these changes will shape the future of research and development.

Josh Kramer brings 25 years experience leading enterprise digital transformation, working with fast growing national commercial independent diagnostic laboratories since 2012. As the Managing Partner at Leap Consulting Group, Josh and his team support laboratories digital front doors, preanalytical, LIMS, lab automation, bioinformatics cloud, report writing, RCM, extensive data analytics, and Pharma RWD collaboration transformations across the laboratory industry. Josh and his team at Leap also provide more traditional IT advisory, journey to the cloud, ERP transformation, and other mainstream digital consulting services to CLIA, CAP, FDA, and GXP focused laboratories throughout the United States. Josh has been recognized by ONC, ACHE, NJBIZ, Forbes, and EY for his strategic vision, innovative thinking, and practical ability to drive innovation and positive change through developing technology teams and assets across industries. Josh and his team have partnered with Sapio since 2014 and continue to design, implement, and drive change utilizing Sapio LIMS and ELN platform as a key tool in their offering.

Tim brings over 20 years of expertise in Laboratory Informatics and Automation. Throughout his career, he has collaborated closely with end-users to address their scientific requirements while enhancing overall solutions. Tim has held leadership roles in Pre-Sales and Professional Services at informatics companies such as Accelrys, Chemspeed, Symyx, Perkin Elmer, CambridgeSoft, and Molecular Design Limited (MDL). Currently, he is a member of the Innovation and Client Success Team at Astrix, working with clients to implement effective enterprise informatics strategies and deployments.

Kevin Cramer serves as the founder and CEO of Sapio Sciences, leveraging a wealth of tech expertise to lead product design and development within the company. His dynamic career includes strategic roles at tech and life sciences companies such as Siebel Systems, Sybase, Biomind, and Veloxity, with a unique skill set that blends technical acumen and sales prowess. A well-established authority in the lab informatics field, Kevin’s professional footprint extends to his contributions to various papers in Nature Genetics, where he applied statistical and machine learning methodologies to the interpretation of genetic data. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems from York College, PA. At the helm of Sapio Sciences, Kevin is driven by his dedication to accelerating the drug R&D process. His vision encompasses a unified platform designed to streamline the creation of large and small molecules, assess their efficacy, manage data capture at scale, and harness the power of data visualization. The platform also incorporates advanced analytical and AI strategies to augment the discovery process.

Gordon McCall is an accomplished Chief Financial Officer (CFO) known for his ability to drive financial success and foster business growth. With a strong finance and accounting background, Gordon’s extensive experience positions him as a valuable asset in his role. Having served as CFO for multiple organizations, Gordon has consistently scaled businesses and delivered exceptional results. His passion for supporting private equity-backed companies has honed his expertise in financial management, forecasting, fundraising, and mergers and acquisitions.

Rob Brown is Senior Director of Product Marketing and Presales at Sapio Sciences. He was previously at Dotmatics where he was Head of Global Presales, Product Marketing & Product Management. Earlier in his career he ran product marketing teams at Accelrys, SciTegic and MSI. Rob started his career as a postdoc and later research scientist at Abbott Laboratories (now Abbvie). He received his PhD in Cheminformatics from the University of Sheffield, UK.
